This program has been designed for healthcare professionals specializing in the treatment of stroke.

After completing the symposium, participants will be able to:
· Discuss the growing the incidence of stroke and its risk of recurrence in patients with established atherosclerotic disease
· Understand the underlying pathophysiology of thrombus formation with a focus on the management of ischemic stroke
· Discuss the high rate of concomitant stroke and cardiovascular disease
· Review recent results and ongoing trials in stroke prevention
· Discuss the implications of CURE in the management of ischemic stroke
· Discuss clinically important advances and strategies in the short-term and long-term treatment of ischemic stroke
· Integrate effective antiplatelet therapy into optimal treatment strategies

This on-line program was developed from the proceedings of a live CME symposium of the same name, held February 7, 2002, in San Antonio, TX. This program will be presented in a video and slide format.
