Deepak L. Bhatt, MD
DR BHATT is
Associate Program Director
for the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship,
interventional cardiologist at the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation in
Cleveland, Ohio, and Director
for the Interventional Cardiology
Fellowship. After graduating as valedictorian
from the Boston Latin School,
Dr Bhatt obtained his undergraduate
science degree from the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, while also serving
as a research associate at Harvard
Medical School in Boston. He
received his medical doctorate
from the Joan and Sanford I.
Weill Medical College of Cornell
University in New York City.
Dr Bhatt served his internship
and residency in internal medicine
at the Hospital of the University
of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
His cardiovascular training
was completed with Dr Eric J.
Topol at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation. Dr Bhatt is board
certified by the American Board
of Internal Medicine in internal
medicine, cardiovascular diseases,
and interventional cardiology.
He is a member of the American
Association for the Advancement
of Science, the American College
of Cardiology, the American
College of Physicians, the American
Medical Association, and the
New York Academy of Sciences.
Dr Bhatt's research interests
include the study of both oral
and intravenous antithrombotic
medications as well as the optimal
management of patients with
acute coronary syndromes, including
myocardial infarction. He also
has research interests in advanced
techniques in coronary, carotid,
and peripheral angiography and
intervention. Dr Bhatt has written
numerous book chapters on these
topics and has published articles
in the Journal of the American
Medical Association, Circulation,
Journal of the American College
of Cardiology, American
Heart Journal, American
Journal of Cardiology, American
Journal of Medicine, and
Journal of Invasive Cardiology,
among others. He has presented
major research findings at the
annual meetings of the American
College of Cardiology, the American
Heart Association, and the European
Society of Cardiology.
Lawrence
M. Brass, MD
DR
BRASS is Professor of Neurology
and of Epidemiology and Public
Health at Yale University
School of Medicine and Co-Director
of the Cerebrovascular Center
at Yale-New Haven Hospital
in New Haven, Connecticut.
He is also Chief of Neurology
Service for the Veterans Affairs
Connecticut Healthcare System
in West Haven. After earning
his medical degree from Tufts
University in Boston, Massachusetts,
he completed a fellowship
at Columbia University in
New York and a neurology residency
and cerebrovascular fellowship
at the Neurological Institute
of New York. A recipient of
numerous awards, Dr Brass
has been listed in several
Who's Who and Best
Doctors indexes, most
recently Who's Who in the
World. Dr Brass is a Fellow
of the Stroke Council of the
American Heart Association,
an Executive Committee member
of the Section on Vascular
Neurology of the American
Academy of Neurology, as well
as active in many professional
organizations, which include
the American Society of Neuroimaging
and the National Stroke Association.
He actively lectures and is
the author of more than 100
articles and abstracts, as
well as 20 books and book
chapters. Currently, Dr Brass
serves on the Editorial Board
of the Journal of Clinical
Epidemiology. A principal
investigator for numerous
studies, his interest in devising
improved management strategies
and better defining stroke
risk has led to the Women's
Estrogen for Stroke Trial
and the Hemorrhagic Stroke
Project, both recently completed.

EASTON is Professor and Chairman,
Department of Clinical Neuroscience,
at Brown University School
of Medicine and Neurologist-in-Chief
at the Rhode Island Hospital,
both in Providence, Rhode
Island. He received his medical
degree from the University
of Washington School of Medicine,
Seattle, Washington, was a
medicine intern and neurology
resident at the New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center, New York,
and is board certified in
neurology. Dr Easton has received
numerous national and international
awards and honors. He was
repeatedly chosen by his students
and residents as an outstanding
teacher and was named an honorary
member by the Stroke Society
of Australasia, the Austrian
Society for Stroke Research,
and the Belgian Stroke Society.
Dr Easton has also been a
Director of the American Board
of Psychiatry and Neurology,
a Councilor of the American
Neurological Association,
Chairman of the Residency
Review Committee for Neurology,
Chairman of the American Heart
Association Stroke Council,
Chairman of the Neurological
Disorders Program, Project
Review Committee-A (National
Institutes of Health), and
a member of the Antithrombotic
Trialists' Collaboration.
In addition, he has been a
member of numerous steering,
advisory, organizing, and
monitoring committees for
many clinical stroke trials
and congresses. Dr Easton
has served on the editorial
boards of a number of journals
including Stroke and Cerebrovascular
Diseases, and has published
more than 200 journal articles,
books, chapters, and miscellaneous
publications in his areas
of expertise.
